The Social Media for Business book release party took place August 4th at Raleigh’s Center for Excellence. Sixty business owners from around the Triangle joined us in celebrating the completion of putting our best understanding and practices for small and micro-business owners into one motivating and readable book. And it was exciting!

A number of friends came early and helped us set up – thank you very much! And many of our Team Nimbus, and inside919 friends and colleagues came. It was wonderful to see everyone, in a way celebrating the learning and work we’d done together in the past years.

A number of the contributors were able to join us: Dave Baldwin, Angel Lebak, Melissa O’Connor, Olalah Njenga, Beverly Mahone, Heather O’Sullivan Canney, Alice Osborne, Dave Park, Pat Howlett, Alex Ferguson, Glenn Cassidy, who contributed 2 haiku on social media, and Whitney Hill. Social Media for Business was written to help small and micro-business owners and managers know how to navigate and be successful in social media and Internet marketing. We want them to realize a true competitive advantage by staying close and relevant to their customers with the right multidimensional social media and Internet presence.

Social Media for Business Book Launch Thursday August 4th in Raleigh, NC

On Thursday, August 4th, at the Raleigh Center for Excellence, the authors and contributors of Social Media for Business: The Small Business Guide to Online Marketing will gather to celebrate the launch of the book.

The gathering is open to the public by RSVP through Eventbrite.

Information about the event is also posted on various social media sites, including FacebookLinkedIn, and inside919.

Social Media for Business is particularly valuable for the micro-business and solo professional, and small businesses with under 25 employees to draw a line in the sand. The perspectives in the book are from micro-business and solo professionals who bring their current experience of how to best use social media and other Internet channels to build, establish and maintain a strong, genuine and positive profile for you and your business on the Internet.

Publisher, Anthony Policastro, of Outer Banks Publishing Group, will be present through Skype.

Authors Martin Brossman and Anora McGaha will talk about the book and introduce the contributors and their articles.

Discover When Businesses Have Liked your Facebook Business page

Many of you know that Facebook Business Pages can now post on other FB Business Pages. That means that you, as your FB Biz Page administrator can “speak” as your business.

(You can “switch” from posting from your FB Personal Profile to posting from your FB Business Page in the upper right hand corner. Then you can post onto other FB Business Pages as your FB Business Page.)

For a FB Biz Page to post on another FB Biz Page, you first have to LIKE that FB Business Page. So you click the LIKE icon.

Step 1. Click on "like this" on the left sidebar of your FB Page

When you do so, there is no increase in the count of people liking the page for that Business Page, so it’s not obvious to that Business Page administrator.


Step 3. A box will pop up. Click on the arrow next to People and choose Pages

Want to know how to see which FB Business Pages have “liked” your FB Business Page?

Three steps.

Step 1.

Click on the left side bar, next to the number of people who like your Page, the link “like this“.

Step 2.

A square will pop up, and in the upper RIGHT CORNER click on the link “see likes“.

Step 3.

Then in the upper left hand corner, click on the down arrow next to the word People. Choose “Pages” and you will see all the “Business” Pages that have liked your Page.

Step 4. You will see all the FB Business Pages that have liked your FB Business Page


Step 4.

Scroll down the FB Business Pages that “like” your FB Business Page. See which Pages you’d like to reciprocate with by Liking them back, from your as your FB Business Page.

Make sure, as we will cover in the Advanced Facebook class, that you are a “welcome interruption to their page” before you post on it as your own FB Business Page.

Linking Into Sales by Martin Brossman and Greg Hyer

Martin Brossman has collaborated with local small and microbusiness professionals in producing three books on social media.

His first, Brossman’s Social Media and Online Resources for Business Directory, was an introduction for business owners who were not using social media, or had just started. It was distributed locally in the Raleigh, North Carolina area and helped launch a number of micro businesses through teaching them how to get free quality exposure on the Internet.

The second book, is this one, Linking Into Sales, with Greg Hyer (center in the photo). Linking Into Sales is a step by step guide to using LinkedIn for sales and networking. They share exciting examples of how powerful LinkedIn is.

How are they qualified to write this book?

Martin Brossman has been offering Sales Coaching and Training since he left IBM in 1995 with a focus that integrates web resources to enhance trust and support the Sales Cycle.

Greg Hyer is the founder of Hyer Media, LLC and several online networking groups such as the Linking the Triangle and Linking DC groups on LinkedIn.com. Greg organizes networking events and conducts training on social media tools like LinkedIn.com.
